With this special issue on global solidarity and responsibility, conflict & communication online is ending its publication. When it was founded 22 years ago, cco was the first and only peace science journal to appear in the German-speaking world that used a peer-review process. Other journals have since followed our example. Our mission to contribute to the professionalization of peace research has thus been fulfilled.
The aim of conflict & communication online was to promote discussion and exchange between researchers of different nationalities and disciplines and to set new quality standards through the creative use of the possibilities offered by the internet. To ensure this, cco was published as an open-access journal, which made the published articles freely accessible to the entire scientific community worldwide under the Creative Commons license BY-NC-ND. The languages of publication were German and English. At the request of the authors also in both publication languages.
Here, too, cco played a pioneering role and we thank our authors, reviewers and occasional guest editors for their successful collaboration. Without them, conflict & communication online would not have developed into the internationally renowned publication that we are now saying goodbye to.
